Booking Policy and Arrangements
Tents: Tents cannot be booked on-line, please phone for availability. 2-to-3-man tents sized ≤ 3m x 3m or equivalent are acceptable, with a maximum stay on any one pitch of 4 nights. This is to protect our ground and allow the grass to recover between bookings. Please note, being a seaside site, tent pitches are uneven and rocky; with the possibility of high winds, we recommend mountain tents and rock pegs. Refunds are not issued due to bad weather. No electric heaters to be used in tents or awnings please.
Awnings and trailer tents, for the same reason as above, must have a breathable groundsheet or no groundsheet. Awnings with a maximum length protruding from your van of 3m are acceptable. Storm straps and rock pegs are recommended due to the possibility of high winds. No electric heaters to be used in tents or awnings please. If you’re planning to sleep in your awning, please contact us to discuss pitch options as a 6m gap will be required, from your neighbours, for fire regulations. NB gazebos and sun canopies, without ground sheets or sides, are free and do not need to be added to your booking.
Choosing your pitch: Our online booking system allows you to choose your pitch from the sitemap. It may, however, be necessary for us to switch your booking, to a similar pitch, to accommodate a longer stay booking or due to ground conditions.
We maintain a 6 metre distance between vans, and most of our pitches are set up with the outside seating area to the left of your van (Pitches 1 – 11 and 20 – 50). We have a very limited number of pitches set up specifically for vehicles with right-hand openings (Pitches 12 – 19). We recommend choosing a pitch which corresponds to your vehicle, especially if you have an awning, as otherwise you may need to reverse into your pitch, to align with the outside seating area of your van.
All our pitches have the option for electric hook up. 15 – 20m long cables are required for pitches 13 – 30. Where the cable trails across the gravel track, a rubber cable cover is provided. We have a limited number of electric cables to lend out.
Not sure if your vehicle is left or right-hand opening? The easiest way to explain the difference between left and right-hand opening vans is, if you imagine your van parked facing the sea, and if you stand behind your van, also facing towards the sea, is your habitation door on the right or left-hand side of your van? If it’s the right, the area to put your awning, or just to sit outside, is on the right of your van, and Pitches 12 – 19 are ideal for you. (If you do have a left-hand opener and choose one of these right-hand opening pitches, it’s ok to reverse in, if you have an awning, or just walk to the other side of your van to sit out.)
Booking is recommended. We now have 20 hard standing pitches and can accommodate up to 8m long vans on most of these pitches. If the campsite appears full, it may be worth giving us a call for availability, as we retain control of some pitches which are not bookable on-line.
Payment, refunds and time of arrival: Full payment is required at time of booking when made online. If you would like to book more than 14 nights, please phone reception. Please arrive between 2 pm - 6 pm and leave by midday on the day of your departure. Please phone us if this isn't convenient and we will do our best to accommodate you. (No arrivals after 9 pm please). The first night’s payment is taken as a non-refundable deposit unless at least one month’s cancellation notice is given. Please note, refunds will not be given due to adverse weather conditions.
Touring and Camping
Facilities: We are licensed as a small touring seasonal site with amenities including electric hook-ups throughout (16 amps), 2 toilet blocks with showers, electric razor points and hairdryer sockets, an extra shower shack (great for families), kitchen and laundry area with washer/dryer/fridge/freezer, chemical waste and grey water disposal areas.
Maximum stay is one month. We are not licenced to accommodate people who are working whilst staying here.
Vans used for towing are only allowed with prior arrangement.
As we are a seaside site, not all pitches are perfectly level, so you may wish to bring ramps with you.
As we are a small, quiet campsite, large groups are not allowed.
Families with young children should be aware that there is a quiet public road that runs through the campsite.
BBQ’s and beach fires are allowed if you follow the Scottish outdoor access code and there is a responsible adult in charge. No BBQ's on grass please as they scorch the ground.
WATER SPORTS – if you wish to swim / surf / wind surf / kayak / paddleboard or kite surf in the sea here, please consider the wind speed and direction, the tide times, currents and water temperature. Ask at reception for further guidance and helpful leaflets from the RNLI.
Dogs are very welcome but must be kept under control at all times.
It is not permissible by law to fly drones on the campsite, as you may not get any closer than 150ft (50m) to other people or their property.
No ball games to be played on the site, due to the risk of denting neighbours vans and distracting passing cars.
